Comments

Sunshine Society’s Annual day and sponsor child meet on April 13 with the theme of मुझे भी पढ़ना है ,मुझे भी बढ़ना है was an event of pride for all Sunshiners when they witnessed their children’s success, enthusiasm and the magnitude of the number of lives being touched! When people come together to make a difference in the society, to bring about a positive change. बूंद बूंद से सागर भरता है is so true in Sunshine’s case as it has taken one dozen years of hard work of so many people to reach a level from where we hope our children will take us forward…
When Noida Authority so kindly permitted us to hold the function in the Panchsheel Balak Inter college auditorium  and Transport commissioner office arranged 5 buses for transporting our children, they gave us the motivation to plan the event where we could get all our children under one roof.
Parvinder Singh, member Sunshine and Yugal Sharma ensured that the children have a super time with all the fun and games their team made the children play.
Our food sponsors - Dr. Deepti & Deepak Jain, have been associated with Sunshine Society from the very beginning and so lovingly arranged food for 700+ people and served not just the children but also the volunteers and parents. Mr. Binod Badri got his team from #BMF to help as volunteers and managed the food distribution very smoothly. With a pledge that we don’t generate minimum waste, we got steel utensils from Ms. Madhu Mittal of Janjagran sansthan. All of us ate the sumptuous lunch and were ready to enjoy a fun filled afternoon. The decorations painstakingly and lovingly done a day prior, gave such a festive look to the auditorium. Our children filled with wonder and awe at the beautiful auditorium were ready to perform on the stage. Vidya Akkireddy, President, Sunshine Society, welcomed all and invited on stage first Sh. V.P. Gupta, who is the inspiration behind Sunshine Society. Sh. Vinod Prakash Gupta, a retired banker and a yogi, was full of emotions recounting the successes of the children of Sunshine Society. Vidya then invited Sh. Brajesh Narain Singh, Transport Commissioner, who lauded the work Sunshine Society is doing and also spoke to the children on how they can focus more internally and how important these formative years are. He also brought forward the importance of road safety and the changes that are being brought in the transport department so that people understand that safety is a must and following rules will ensure safety. He really appreciated the work of the teachers of Sunshine Society and honoured them by handing over the bags to the teachers which were sponsored by a kind sponsorer. Ramita Taneja, Vice president, Sunshine Society took over the stage and set the stage on fire by her energetic compering and total involvement with the children and the guests. The entire auditorium resounded with Hellooooo Sunshine… Ramita went on to introduce Sunshine Society and the contribution of all the members, volunteers, teachers, sponsors and all those who contribute in some way or the other. The performances of all the children whether it was soulful Khushi with her sister or the Vandana dance by the students of SRM school or Swag ke Sikandar of sector 93 study center. The entire auditorium was resounding with applause as the little ones performed. The Nritya yogis performed a beautiful, well-coordinated yoga dance with amazing formations and they were prepared by New Golden Public School. The green warriors from the sector 93 reiterated the need for environmental awareness and to include the environment in our daily life. The Desi Poppins from the sector 50 study center, Taringini’s from the New Golden public school and the Udan girls from sector 93 cast a spell on the audiences who were full of wonder to see the talent and involvement of our children. The icing on the cake was the super teenagers, Silver strings, senior citizens of Silvercity sector 93 and Sector 50 who proved the adage that age is just a number and there is no age limit to enthusiasm! The motivating performances by the  senior citizens who sang to the mash up of songs old and new! And how they danced to bring forward the love in our lives! Our Sunita Jain and Amanpreet supporting them all the way.
The evening was wrapped up by vote of thanks by our treasurer Ajay Chaturvedi who appreciated the sponsors of the event and went on to thank each one of them in helping us put the event together. Cheers to team Sunshine for coming together to helping all those in need and making this world a happy and a better place.
The many sponsors for the event were DGAS Skyworld Sms Technology Pvt. Ltd and Adxenia Platforms Pvt. Ltd. Who gave bags to all our children, Rajesh Pajnoo, Saloni and Varun for the creatives, Grover Printing press for banners and certificates, Rajesh Sankla for T-shirts to all our children, Sunil Arora for snacks and drinks for all our children, all individual contributors who donated for this event and made it possible to organize this event.

Superman quoted "you're going to change the world".... So are we!

Sunshine Society feels happy to announce the commencement of our much ambitious project Prayaas-Centre of Excellence(COE)  in support  with Oberoi Thermit Pvt Ltd (OTPL).

The project Prayaas is completely financed by OTPL. We are thankful to OTPL for supporting us and making this dream project come live.

The project Prayaas aims to ensure quality academic support to the bright and eager learners of Sunshine who have the desire to study and achieve academic milestones.

Though our children have been studying in many schools of Noida in villages like Barola, Hoshiyarpur, Chalera, etc but the need for this centre was solely driven by Sunshine Society's urge to provide maximum qualitative supervised support to those children coming from economically weaker sections of the society who have the potential to excel and an appetite to learn and grow.

With OTPL by our side, we are confident that this initiative will definitely help in bringing out the best in our children who aim to live a dignified and a secure life.

SBI Life comes to the aid of 500 daily wagers!

3/5/2020

Comments

During these difficult times of Covid 19, where lockdown is the norm, the parents of our Sunshine children and their neighbours, who depended on daily earnings, were badly hit.
On one hand we are trying to instill in them the value of being self sufficient, on the other hand we realize how difficult it is for them when there is no source of earning at home. In most homes, both parents work and sustain their household and we try and take on the responsibility of education. The fathers mostly employed as masons, carpenters, painters, cleaners suddenly saw their daily income stop. When we first started the distribution on April 12, there were very few of our children who said they needed help. Others hoped that the lockdown will open soon and things will be better. Some more children came forward on April 18, our second distribution. This time they also brought forward the plight of their neighbors and hoped that we could help them too. Sunshine Society is an NGO where people come together to make a difference in the place they live. We asked for a little help and we were overwhelmed by the response. We also realized that there were still many who needed the ration and then we got the support from SBI life… 500 ration sets with the following:
1.Atta 5 Kg
2. Rice 4 Kg
3. Oil 1 kg
4. Dal - 1/2 kg - arhar
5. Dal - 1/2 kg - chana
6. Masale - 3 pkts
7. Salt - 1 kg
8. Soap - 1 no

SBI life is also sponsoring the education of eight Sunshine children and they realised the hardship that all our children may be facing. They approached us to facilitate the distribution to our children and also volunteered to distribute.
Regional Manager Debabrata Panini and Regional Manager Sunil Pandey helped distribute the ration sets to the children.

Extending help to 500 families is a big difference… Our children and their neighbours have extended their thank you’s and we share this with you all…

Thank you Vinodji, SHO Dharmendraji, Sub Inspecter Deepakji, Sub Inspector Sohanveerji, Pankajji and Raghav. Thank you to all the volunteers(our children) who helped us prepare the list and distribute maintaining the social distancing.

We have formed a chain!

18/4/2020

Comments

When the children we support start thinking about their neighbours and people in distress, then we know that we are forming a good chain.
When Noida Authority and 24 Mantra distributed ration to our children, we got a lot of thank you messages. Along with the messages came pleas saying that their neighbours do not have anything to eat and if we could do something for them.
We were touched and happy that our efforts to educate them are bearing fruit. Over the years, we have realised that whenever we ask for funds to carry out work during difficult times, there are scores of people who come forward to help and most of the times we overflow with help.
This time was no different. Within 24 hours of circulating our message for help, we received an overwhelming support and we collected approximately ₹1,18,000.
We distributed 147 sets today in village Barola. There are a few referred families which we couldn’t reach and will do so in the coming days.
Many thanks to Vinod Agarwal, Pankaj Jha, Police team of sector 49 and to all our contributors and well-wishers.
Let’s form our good chain bigger and let’s pledge to continue to educate…

Covid - 19, When people come together to provide relief.

Sunshine Society’s children’s families had started feeling the pinch of lockdown. With no money and hence no ration, the parents, mostly daily wagers were worried at the start of the month for not having any money or possibility of any further earnings. The way people came forward to offer help by way of cash/financial was incredible. Our main issue was to honour the lockdown and ensure that the distance was maintained. After the Noida Authority, came help from Sresta Organics, which comes as a brand name 24 Mantra, who without blinking, promised help of as many packets as needed. We shared the remaining children list with them and the ration reached the children!
Their thank you messages are heart melting.

Noida Authority becomes providers for Sunshine Society children

11/4/2020

Comments

As soon as the the April month started, our children started calling us with problems of no food at home. There were many of them with parents working as mason, painter, carpenter or daily wagers. Some parents working in Delhi could not go to collect their wages and some could not collect in Noida. Some children don’t have whatsapp facility so Paytm and any other digital platform is not a possibility.  Parents themselves in most cases illiterate.
We so wanted to distribute the ration but also did not want to jeopardise the current isolation/lockdown.
We contacted the OSD Dr. Avinash Tripathi and shared with him the list of our children along with their phone numbers and then we waited. Nothing happened the next day but today(which is the day after) I have been continuously getting calls from our children thanking us for the ration they received!
The Noida Authority and specially the OSD Dr. Tripathi’s team, systematically called up our children and handed them each a bag of ration containing Atta, Rice, Kale Chane, Arhar dal, Sugar, Salt, 4 pkts of masala, oil and a soap bar.
We are so thankful to the team for providing relief to our children in these tough times. As I understand, the team is working tirelessly to provide food packets, and ration to those in need.
Sunshine Society salutes this team and pledge any kind of assistance that they may need.

Diwali Mela at Gulshan Vivante

23/10/2019

Comments

The Diwali Mela@Vivante on Saturday,19th October 2019 saw something amazing this year- the young sunshiners-a group of Vivante kids ran two stalls to raise awareness and funds for Sunshine Society all on their own. A stall for selling diyas painted by the children themselves and some plants and another stall for games were managed for 3 hours by a group of 13 children all working in harmony to divide duties of ushering people, explaining what they are doing, selling and managing records and cash box. They managed a whopping profit of INR 6100/- which goes to Sunshine. Besides supporting the cause they wanted to, you could see how the future citizens of our society can really make a difference and work on things independently with little and right guidance.

There were other games stalls, performances and attractions at the mela which these sunshine volunteers missed happily coz they were so much into what they were doing and had an amazing sense of responsibility. Visitors came in throngs unable to resist this lovely bunch of very young kids( from 6 years to 13 years) proudly managing their stalls with words of praise and encouragement and went away with diyas or plants and surely knowing more about Sunshine Society. This enthusiastic bunch of children were led by Dr Vini Agarwal and had been working hard for last two weeks to learn more about Sunshine, meet, discuss, plan, collect and paint diyas, make paper bags and get ready for the final show. Shuchita Gupta, Jaya Varma and Vidya Akkireddy pitched in to support as and when needed.
The children who worked for the cause are:
Vedika, Shruti, Gaurang, Princy, Sirjan, Neel, Ananya, Reeti, Samaya, Vardha, Nivriti, Shree, Ananya

Musical Ramayan - A fundraiser

10/10/2019

Children are the greatest imitators. Thus, they should get something great to imitate. What can be better than them getting the wisdom, knowledge and values to experience from our senior citizens. The best way to learn and re-learn!! This is how this noida based NGO, Sunshine Society works. The 6 years old NGO, was started by 11 founders and the team comprises of 17 executive members  and 23 members. All the projects of Sunshine Society like education, vocational development, career enhancement, model village program, senior citizen action are centred around the approach “Connecting generations to produce an educated, skilled and a happy future”.
With around 250 children studying in 38 schools associated with Sunshine Society in villages like barola, hoshiyarpur, sadarpur, chalera etc, there are around 200 children in 3 After School Program centres in sector 50 and 51. The education of these children is funded through money generated collectively from raddi collected by 10 residential societies in noida and also through donor support from around 90 sponsors and 7 corporates. Around 80 senior citizens are associated with the NGO with their numbers multiplying fast.  Many of them are productively involved in our after school program centres teaching and shaping the future of these children. The idea is to enrich and empower the lives of these seniors.
Keeping in line with this philosophy, Sunshine Society showcased a fundraiser ‘Musical Ramayan' directed by Amanpreet Kaur, on 5th October this year where the participants were seniors, who once again proved that change has nothing to do with numbers but mind. The entire evening was an amalgamation of power, poise and charisma emanating in the form of cosmic vibrations with senior wonder performing on this greatest mythological saga of love, sacrifice and virtue. The show commenced with bhajans in the melodious voice of Swayamsiddha Das & Sarvesh Mehrotra which acted as a prelude to Ramayan. With MC and Executive member Ramita Taneja taking the audience through the journey of Sunshine Society over the years, the stage was set for an exiting journey ahead. The performances were marvellous and spellbinding which left the audience glued to their seats cheering the participants throughout the show.
The senior participants of the show were : Nandita Ahuja, Kiran Goel, Somlata Sharma, Vinod Gupta, Lakshmi, Promila Puri, Vijay Lakshmi, Prof. Kapoor, Alka Kapoor, Savita Bharadwaj, Savitri Bhawnani, Veena Aggarwal, Asha Kurera, Dr. Pushpa Gupta, Manjit Singh, Ved Prakash Aggarwal, Amrit, Vimal Bharadwaj, S.K. "A dream doesn't become reality through magic, it takes sweat, determination and hard work"

This is what our children do at our After School Study Program -  turn their dreams into reality. In its  6th year now, Sunshine Society presented awards to the children for their academicexcellence.

The amazing teachers, who come to teach our children ensure that the number of children achieving success and joining college increases by the year.
The classes started by Sh. Vinod Prakash Gupta 11 years ago continues to motivate and ensure that the children get educated and are able to reach their potential.
The Chief guest Sh. Vimal Sharma, President, RWA sector 50 and the Guest of honour Rear Admiral Dr. S Kulshreshtha, working Chairman of the Meghdootam senior citizn forum, along with Sh. V.P. Gupta gave away the prizes to the children who secured academic excellence in their respective classes. The children got lots of prizes along with the cheques of 2000 and 1100 all sponsored by our very own  Sh.Narayan Dutt Tiwari.
The Children spoke about their dreams and thanked their wonderful teachers who continuously encourage them to study hard and complete their education.
The children thanked Their Gupta sir, Pradeep sir, Jain sir, Pawan sir, Rosy ma'am, Renu ma'am, Sudha ma'am, Wrinda ma'am, Mahender sir, Anjali ma’am, Madhu ma'am, Pankaj sir, Sangeeta ma'am, Madhulika ma'am, Kamal ma'am and all teachers who come to teach them from time to time.
As enabled citizens, who understand the importance of education, everyone agreed that it is our duty to ensure that all children should be given an opportunity to study and reach their potential.

a mobile OPD ambulance service for not so privileged, ideated by Dr. Renu Verma and team, coordinated by Mr. Vinod Agarwal from NOFAA, organized a Health Camp for the children of Sunshine Society today, 31st May at Alok Vihar 1, sector 50, Noida from 10.30 am. The doctors team comprised of Dr. Amita, Dr. Jindal and Dr. Renu Verma.
More than 70 children could benefit from this camp.
In addition, Sunshine Society also organized a Clothes Distribution drive for these children. Volunteers Niya, Risa and Jahnavi sorted and helped in the distribution of the clothes.
Our English workshop teachers, Iram and Priyanka were there throughout the camp to manage the children. The waiting time was constructively utilized by a quick recap of whatever the children have studied since the beginning of the workshop.
Sunshine Society is grateful to the team of doctors and support staff of Life on wheels, NOFAA and all the volunteers who managed to take time out and be part of this wonderful cause in this scorching heat and F-3 Alok Vihar 1 for their support in organizing this camp.
