Sponsored Education Programme (SEP)

Objective

To sponsor the education of children of  workers in a locality (housing society) for a sustained period of time by generating funds from within the locality itself.

Create a regular source of funds that can be used to get schooling for a defined number of children in a nearby school.

Fund Generation

Funds are generated by organizing a “raddi” collection (old newspapers & other items)  in the locality on a monthly basis.
Each family is expected to contribute to the programme once every two-three months by giving away old newspapers / bottles and other saleable items for this cause.

School Selection

The effort is to ensure that the children go to schools near their residence to ensure the continuous attendance and to avoid any absenteeism due to non availability of transport. The following are the basis of selection:
  • proximity to the living area
  • structured curriculum and education as focus
  • receptiveness of the school towards the mainstreaming of children from various backgrounds
