12 November 2017, was a landmark in the history of Sunshine Society, an NGO working for Children & Senior citizens, when it saw a gush of social coterie at Meghdootam Park in Sector 50, Noida singing and dancing to the tune of it’s 5th Annual Function. The event which was organised on the theme “Celebrating Togetherness” reverberated throughout the venue with children, elders, sponsors, guests, corporates and the team of sunshine intermingling with each other and enjoying the warm and lazy sunday afternoon turned lively by our member and the vivacious emcee of the day Rimaa Taneja with her “Helloooo… Sunshine”.
The event was marked by the gracious presence of Shri B.N Singh, District Magistrate, Noida and Dr. Anurag Bhargava, Chief Medical Officer, Gautam Budh Nagar. Shri B.N Singh was enthralled by the sparkling and tireless performances put in by the after school programme children of sector 50, 51 and Indirapuram Sunshine. The show-stopper was a dance performance by the senior citizens which left the audience mesmerised. Shri B. N Singh laid emphasis on the role of an individual in bringing a positive change in the society and motivated the children to keep working hard. He was appreciative of the Sunshine Society’s work model. His eagerness, enthusiasm and concern towards bringing a considerable amount of change in the lives of these children and particularly senior citizens by involving and engaging them in everyday activities in order to give them a meaningful and a dignified life has definitely boosted the confidence and faith with which Sunshine has been working in these core areas for so many years. His message that one should learn to bend in his course of life which takes you to the pinnacle of success and this cannot be attained without the intervention of our seniors was a learning for all…. the motto of Sunshine Society.
The Annual event saw the presence of more than 350 children from the economically weaker section of the society, whose education is being supported by Sunshine Society from past 4 years. The support comes from funds generated through “raddi collection” from 9 housing societies in Noida and Indirapuram and from donors and few corporate sponsors. The event also witnessed the presence of more than 50 senior citizens.
The Annual day was an amalgamation of sponsor child meet and cultural extravaganza. Sponsors were excited to meet their children and happily interacted with them. They clicked happy pictures with their children in colourful Sunshine frames. The children were showered with blessings which will always remain and blossom in the form of Sunshine tree “BlessOvillea”. Sunshine children wholeheartedly participated in many programs which commenced with a melodious Saraswati vandana, energetic dance on “Jai Ganesha, Deva Jai Ganesha”, patriotic performance on “Mile sur mera tumhara”, an eye opener skid on “Honesty amongst children” and grand finale performance by our senior citizens. The dance "Iti si khushi" and the "Gidda" and "Bhangra" was choregraphed by our very own Aman of Mahagun Maestro. Our much revered senior citizen participants were as follows: Savita Bharadwaj, Vinod Prakash Gupta, Inderjeet Singh, Ganga Joshi, Ashok Kumar Gupta, Vimal Bharadwaj, Suresh Kumar, Neelam Dudeja, Praveen Monga, Amrit Kapoor, Jaya Gupta, Santosh Arora, Kaushalya Dudeja, Pushpa Gupta, Mohini Joshi and Promila Puri
Amidst all this music and dance, fun games like large tic-tac toe, stack it up, and many more were organised for the children by Sunshine member Sunili Bhatia, which were liked and enjoyed by everyone. From conceptualization to arranging and then to organising the games on the D-day, all was single-handedly managed by Sunili, and this is the beauty of a Sunshiner.
The after school centre teachers from Indirapuram and Noida were felicitated for their unflinching support and guidance to the Sunshine students by gifting personalized diaries sponsored by Rahul Grover of Grover Printing Press and eco-friendly packed by Rimaa Taneja. The names of the teachers felicitated were Vinod Prakash Gupta, Rajinder Tihara, Madhu Mittal, Sulekh Chander Jain, Pawan Kumar, Shyam Narain Rai, Pradeep Kulshresth, Raj Singh, Dr. Subhash Joshi, Pankaj Kumar Mishra, Sangeeta Singh Rajavat, Beena Lohani, Meenu Agarwal, Priti Tayal, Anju Agarwal, Kavita Dua, Manisha Mudgal, Rashmi Singhania, Raghav Singhania, Rikta Dey, Shilpi Agarwal, Navin Tandon and Shweta Vikas
Children were given juices sponsored by 24 Mantra Organic. Sanjay Kumar, Regional Head, 24 Mantra Organic was personally present at the venue to supervise and facilitate the distribution of juices in an orderly manner. Sunshine feels obliged for your time and voluntary support Mr. Kumar! Lunch in re-usable boxes for Sunshine children was sponsored by Dr. Dipti Jain and Deepak Jain and goodies were sponsored by Dharampal Premchand Ltd. The financial sponsors for the event were Amit Singhal, Samir Bhatia and Ashu Sharma. Sunshine society remains thankful to all the sponsors for their continuous support and faith in all our endeavours and is hopeful of working together always.
Thus, all that is well, ends well… but for Sunshine Society, it is the start of another day…..a day committed to “connecting generations by bridging gaps and celebrating togetherness”
