A promise made in May 2017 was so well kept in March 2018 that the experience will stay on with the children through their lives.
Positive life experiences are not easy to come by. We, at Sunshine Society, strive to ensure that our children get exposed to experiences which make them think on their future life course.
World Bank’s visit on March 29, 2018 was a result of the time spent by the World Bank team in May 2017 http://www.sunshinesociety.in/activities-after-school-study/when-world-bank-came-visiting .
51 Sunshine students and their five coordinators – V.P. Gupta, S.N. Rai, Madhu Mittal, Meenu Agrawal and Mahendra Singh enjoyed a wonderful day out with the World Bank team. The day started with the children excitedly getting on the bus for a whole day spend at the World Bank. The children started their activities with fun ball games at the Lodi gardens. After a drinks and fruit break, they attended the fire safety drill with hands on experience on dousing a fire, session on safety during an earthquake and disaster management. A talk about World Bank by Hisham A. Abdo Kahin, the World Bank’s operation manager, educated the children on the workings of World Bank and how the World Bank brings about a change. With food for thought, the children were also treated to delicious hot lunch. A walk through the World Bank office gave the children an insight of how the offices look like and how people work in offices.
Sessions on safe water and ill effects of unhealthy beverages and a few more activities, the children were happily on their way back totally satisfied in mind and stomach and carried back with them the thoughtful gifts given by the World Bank team.
Many thanks to Arvinder(Ruby) Singh and her team who organized, detailed and coordinated the entire visit.
The children indeed gained a life experience which will motivate them to continue with their studies and aspire for a brighter future.
