Celebrating Sunshine's first milestone in Model Village Program

1/9/2017

Comments

30th-August 2017, Wednesday was a day of celebrating hope for 500 children and many hearts behind them. The day was marked for celebrating the completion of the renovation and repair project of Government school, Barola-1 of Barola village accomplished by Sunshine Society. The chief guest of the event was the District Magistrate of Noida, Mr B.N.Singh and was marked by presence of several dignified personnel from government and private sector all joining hands for a common cause of a better society.
The warm and bright day began with all the beaming school children rendering as an army of workers to ready their almost new school to welcome the guests. Banners, streamers, ribbons were put up, desks and chairs arranged in order in the garden and around. The District Magistrate Brijesh Narain Singh arrived sharp at 9:25 AM as scheduled and joined the Principal Mrs. Ruchi Agarwal, teachers, Deepak Methi, Team Sunshine and distinguished guests. They were shown around the school by the Sunshine team and the he took immense interest in understanding the infrastructural improvements done under the project. He interacted with the children during his tour and then planted a neem tree as a beginning to spreading greenery and further beautifying the premises. He then along with the Principal, Deepak Methi, Vaishali and Ramita lit the ceremonial lamp and the children sang Saraswati vandana. He then addressed everybody congratulating them on the completion of the project and acknowledged the efforts put in by Sunshine team supported by Pankaj Electronics. He added that it is pertinent in these times for everyone in private sector to join hands with the government selflessly, in their respective capacities to move the whole society forward. Before departing, he endorsed his comments in the project report and distributed school bags to children and encouraged them to study hard for a better tomorrow. The presence of the District Magistrate Brijesh Narain Singh came as a shot in the arm for us to continue to make a difference in and around the place we live in.
Deepak Methi and his team then inaugurated the ‘Anita Chopra Kaksh’ , which was the renovated classroom dedicated to the sponsor. Everyone then planted trees in the premises and the children were given milk and refreshments.
This project was undertaken by Sunshine under the Model Village-rural infrastructure development initiative and was sponsored by Deepak Methi of M/S Pankaj Electronics. Other organizations that came forward to contribute and do their bit included were Quint Wellington Redwood and Agarwal Clinic.
Vaishali Joshi Mehta, Secretary, Sunshine society took it directly under her wings and did arduous work to take the project from initiation to completion. Involving long days and several hurdles to getting every bit of task from taking required approvals, involving stakeholders, engaging labor to daily supervision was done by her. Many hands came forward to help and it would be fair to mention a few but not limited to Rajiv Gandhi, Ajay Chaturvedi, Dr. Monica Agarwal,Ramita Taneja, Archana Chaturvedi, Swaran Mahajan and Sunil Mehta.
We are incredibly proud of the outcome and hope this contributes to a better tomorrow allowing children to study without hurdles in their school at Barola village.

February 10, 2017 was a good day. It was the day that the Model Village Program gained momentum when Mr. Deepak Methi decided to fund the repair of the Government Primary School Barola - 1. Sunshine Society, after taking the necessary permissions from Basic Shiksha Adikari (BSA), started the work on February 10, also the birthday of Mr. Deepak Methi's son Udit.
The two rooms in the school were not being used as the ceiling was very unsafe and was in urgent need of relaying the ceiling. Sunshine Society, together with Mr. Deepak Methi and Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, Architect and Director at DFA Consultants decided to take up this project.
