“Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress  and working together is success.”
The spirit of celebrating togetherness, sharing happiness with others and spreading joy is the philosophy with which Sunshine Society works…
2ndDecember, 2018 was the day marked to “Celebrate 5 years of Togetherness” at Sunshine Society during  the  6thAnnual Event. The vibrant spirit could be seen everywhere with children and seniors enjoying and interacting together. The event which was held in Amphitheatre, Meghdootam Park, Sector 50, Noida became lively with the infectious energy of our member and charming anchor for the day, Ramita Taneja. Her words “Hello Sunshine” echoed everywhere and kept the audience captivated throughout the event.
The event saw participation of more than 500  children  and seniors from Noida and Indirapuram. Special thanks to members Shalini Chauhan & Dr. Suchitra Jain who organized and coordinated smooth and safe pick and drop of children and their parents from Indirapuram to the venue in Noida.
The special guest for the event was Dr Ajay Pal Sharma, SSP, Gautam Budh Nagar. Few words from him for the audience left the children motivated to work towards a better future. Sunshine Society is thankful to him for taking time out from his busy schedule and to grace the occasion.
The event kicked off with a welcome note by President , Vidya Akkireddy  followed by a short address by Shri V.P.Gupta, children’s favourite and fondly called as Gupta Uncle, teacher & mentor at After school study program at Sector 50, Noida. Sunshine students Aanchal & Akash shared their experiences with the audience and also motivated the children to work hard in order to achieve success. Commander Jaya Varma IN (Retd), Coordinator, Sunshine Society spoke to the children & parents on the importance of discipline and time. Arunima Mehra from Medico Electrodes, our corporate sponsor also addressed the audience.
The event witnessed Sponsor-Child meet and fun games organized by Parvinder Singh and Yugal Kishore Sharma which were a huge hit with children and seniors. The cultural program commenced by seeking blessings of Almighty when children sang a melodious Saraswati Vandana taught by volunteer Shambhavi Mishra, class 11, Amity International School, Noida.
An energetic bhangra performance by Sunshine students of SRM Foundation, sector 51, Hoshiyarpur, Noida marked the beginning of the cultural evening and kept the audience dancing to it’s tune.  The other group from same school presented  nukkad natak  “ladki hi dahej hai” Both the above performances were choreographed by Maninder Sachdev, teacher at After school study centre, SRM Foundation, sector 51, Hoshiyarpur, Noida and volunteer Gagan from Friends Academy of Acting & Dance. The students also presented  a patriotic dance performance on song “Vande Matram” choreographed by Soni Chauhan, teacher at SRM Foundation.
Small children from After school centre, sector 50, Noida presented a dance performance on theme “school chale hum”. A skit was presented by a group of other children from the same After school on the theme “Salute to Mother India”. The skit emphasized our common allegiance to Mother India. It also highlighted the freedom struggle against the British and the valour of our freedom  fighters. Both the performances were choreographed by our volunteer Amanpreet Kaur from Mahagun Maestro, Noida and she was assisted by volunteer Himani Gupta from Alok Vihar 2, Noida.
Children from After school centre, sector 51, presented a dance performance on the theme “Save Trees” with melodious and touching lyrics “Na kato mujhe..dukhta hai”. The performance was choreographed by volunteers Jyoti Malik and Nishu Garg from Mahagun Maestro.
The show stopper of the event was a performance by the senior citizens on “Stages of happiness” choreographed by volunteer Amanpreet. The cheerful and amicable spirit of the senior citizens made it impossible for the audience to remain glued to their seats. Cheers  and whistles were all that could be heard during the performance. The senior participants were as follows: Amrit Kapoor, Nandita Ahuja, Somlata Sharma, Mohini Joshi, Pramila Puri, Vijaya Lakshmi, Pushpa Gupta, Vijaya Krishnan, Kiran Goel, Santosh Arora, Gangotri Negi, Praveen Monga, Alka Kapoor, VP Gupta, Umesh Kapoor, Savita Bhardwaj, Vimal Bhardwaj and Lakshmi Ishwaran. The seniors once again made us realize how much still remains in their basket of knowledge and wisdom to offer. It is up to the younger generation to benefit from it.

Lot of hard work and dedication had gone in the preparation of all the programmes and the results were quite visible during the Annual Event… with each program well coordinated and choreographed to the best.
When the day is so beautiful and happening… the members are equally excited and they were because came in the Flash mob where they along-with the children danced and rejoiced on the humming beats of “itti si hansi… itti si khushi” and “love you zindagi” encouraging the audience to join in and celebrate the spirit of togetherness!!!
The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony  for the teachers  at our After school centres who have joined hands with Sunshine in providing education to the children.  Gifts were also given to the winners of Insta-Photo contest organized online. The felicitation ceremony was presided by the special guest, Dr Ajay Pal Sharma. A brief vote of thanks was given by Secretary General, Vaishali Joshi Mehta to mark the end of this joyful event.
In the end the children were given return gifts sponsored by Anmol Biscuits and Sanjay Prasad. The sponsors for the event were Ashu Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Deepak Uniyal and Shashi Garg. Juices for children were sponsored by 24 Mantra. Food for children was sponsored by Tarundeep Kharbanda and Shailendra. Gifted for the teachers were sponsored by member Deepak Methi. Sunshine Society is thankful to all the sponsors who came together to make the event a huge success.
Stage & venue decoration was led by member Ramita Taneja who was helped by volunteer Arushi Verma, Sunshine children Krishna, Rishab, Suraj, Arvind, Mukesh, Thakurdeen, Suneel and four volunteers from Hierank Business School. The team was up and about from 8 in the morning to make the place look lively and festive. Volunteers  Minaxi Tyagi and Ritushree made eye-catching charts and volunteer Charu was kind enough to give cut-outs for the decoration on the day of event.
The photography credit  goes  to member Sunil Mehta, who was on his toes throughout the day to cover the entire event.
Sunshine Society is thankful to all the volunteers who came forward right from day one to make the event phenomenal.
Sunshine Society is also thankful to News 1 India and  Hindustan Noida City Live for providing coverage to the event.
We do appreciate the value of a moment, but understand the true essence until it becomes a memory. The annual event  2018 will always be cherished by everyone. We will always be grateful to those who have supported us throughout our journey and are helping us in bridging gaps and bringing generations together!!!!
